What motivated you to start this business?
I have been involved in the laundromat business since I was a teenager because my parents used to own one. My mom used to be the manager for Mi Gente Laundromat and when the owner wanted to sell it, I purchased it. My mom could keep her job and we could continue serving customers.
What is the history of your business?
Before I purchased Mi Gente Laundromat, the business had already been opened for 30 years under three different owners. We have had various employees but one of them has been working at this location since the business first opened.
What product/special services do you offer?
Professional dry cleaning and laundry services.
What makes your business product/service standout from the rest?
We offer same day services and use professional machines to clean and iron garments. We have just started offering pickup/delivery services as well.
Are you involved in any initiatives that give back to the community?
I’m involved with the McAllen Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors Program. We support other businesses and entrepreneurs during their special milestones like grand openings, ribbon cuttings and more. I’m also a volunteer at my church.
