The McAllen Chamber All About Women Committee, the City of McAllen and Texas Regional Bank invite you to “Haciendo Negocio en McAllen,” the first-ever event in Spanish at the McAllen Chamber of Commerce, 1200 Ash Ave., from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 26. Representatives from the Chamber and the City of McAllen will present a panel discussion on how to develop and open a business in McAllen. They will discuss what licenses and permits are required to properly open a business, how to turn your idea or hobby into a business, what programs and opportunities are available in McAllen to promote your business, and how to promote your business on social media. Presenters include City of McAllen Director of Retail and Business Development Rebecca Olaguibel, CEO & Owner of Nuts & Cows Elizabeth Davis, City of McAllen Environmental Health Specialist Melissa Salinas, and City of McAllen Health Department Administrative Secretary Melissa Islas.
The event will also showcase the products of the women of the McAllen Chamber Latina Hope Program, a program supported by United Way of South Texas, Wells Fargo, and Calvary Baptist Church. Latina Hope is designed to facilitate the learning, networking, and acting of micro-entrepreneurs who want to start a new micro-business and advance their business idea to a more tangible and profitable point. The ladies will exhibit their products or services at the event so anyone wanting to shop can take advantage of this opportunity to support them as they acquire sales experience.
Entrance to the event is free and will include a light lunch and door prizes. Anyone wanting to share, network, connect, learn, and shop is welcomed to attend. The event is also available to women in our community who would like to showcase and sell their products. Exhibit tables are available for $50. Haciendo Negocio en McAllen is sponsored by the City of McAllen, Texas Regional Bank, Coffee Zone, and Convention Expo Management Services.
