MXLAN Festival Set for July 2023

City of McAllen Officials and partners announced MXLAN Festival 2023 experiences during a press conference at the McAllen Performing Arts Center.

The three-day art and music festival will take place July 28-30 and will celebrate Latino influence on popular culture. Hosted by the City of McAllen and city partners, the festival is expected to draw over 65,000 attendees with 18 unique experiences.

Edinburg North High School’s ​​Grupo Folklórico ‘Ritmo Dorado’ and local Rio Grande Valley singer Lizzie Astorga performed for the audience during the press conference that took place Monday morning.

Officials announced new experiences include a Gala to kick off the festivities on Thursday July 27 with proceeds benefiting the newly formed McAllen Performing & Cultural Arts Foundation, a Gratitude Tunnel, International Economic Summit, Botanical Fridas, among others.

Returning favorite events include the Neon Nights 5K Run, Creator in Motion Art Project, La Comunidad Mural Project, Calenda Street parade, Sabor a Mexico Food Festival, Spirits Mezcal & Tequila Premium Tasting Experience, Artisan Mercardo and much more.

The festival will also feature live music from various emerging artists including Maye, Little Jesus, Kinky, Estevie, Glare, Lizzie Astorga with more to be announced soon.   

Valued partners include the City of McAllen, McAllen International Airport, McAllen Chamber of Commerce, Boggus Auto Group, Reliant, H-E-B, and Ruby Red Hospitality.
