Driscoll physicians publish COVID-19 paper

Driscoll Children’s Hospital physicians have published an article on how pediatric patients are affected by COVID-19.

Authors of the article are Ali Hasan, MD, Chief Resident at Driscoll Children’s Hospital, Noormah Mehmood, MD, Chief Resident at Driscoll Children’s Hospital, and Jaime Fergie, MD, Director of Infectious Diseases at Driscoll Children’s Hospital.

The article, titled “Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) and Pediatric Patients: A Review of Epidemiology, Symptomatology, Laboratory and Imagining Results to Guide the Development of a Management Algorithm,” was published in Cureus.

Driscoll Children’s Hospital is a 189-bed pediatric tertiary care center with more than 30 medical and surgical specialties offering care throughout South Texas, including Corpus Christi, the Rio Grande Valley, Victoria, and Laredo. Through the vision and generosity of its founder, Clara Driscoll, Driscoll Children’s Hospital opened in 1953, becoming the first, and remains the only, free-standing children’s hospital in South Texas. In 2019, Driscoll had almost 142,000 patient visits, including more than 46,000 patients seen at South Texas’ first emergency room created exclusively for children.
