McAllen Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors (Part II)

Last week, I wrote about the McAllen Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. The Chamber board has been strategic in finding key leaders across sections of McAllen’s economy who bring to the table relationships and the ability to drive critical goals for the Chamber.

The McAllen Chamber of Commerce Board is the tipping point, or “X” factor, for our organization. Here is Part II of the McAllen Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors:

  • Jason Leal – Jason is the immediate past treasurer for the Chamber and brings a robust analytical approach to the trends financially impacting the Chamber, along with the benefits of a long-term banking relationship.
  • Todd Mann – Todd is new to the board and is President and CEO of McAllen Medical Center. The healthcare industry is a massive driver in the local economy and is impacting the community in a variety of ways.
  • Carlos Melguizo – Carlos is a long-time jewelry store owner and has been actively involved in the community of McAllen in so many different organizations. Carlos brings a vast network of connections and the ability to get stuff done.
  • Albert Rego – Albert and his wife, Sony, have been the major drivers behind the Chamber’s Santa Fe Steakhouse Wine Classic. Albert loves meeting people from all over the world. He is gregarious, fun, and always open to the next adventure, especially if it involves meeting new people.
  • Dr. Kelly Scrivner – Kelly is new to the board and brings an extensive network of contacts and a strong ability for fundraising. Kelly will bring her ties to UTRGV to the Chamber and will facilitate new ways for the City and Chamber to develop opportunities with UTRGV.
  • Dr. Pablo Tagle – Pablo has been a long-time supporter of developing McAllen and taking the community to the next level. He reminds me, on many occasions, that we need to continue to build McAllen for the next “up and coming” business leaders.
  • Robert Vacker – Bob is a long-time car dealer and entrepreneur that has impacted the business community with his support and development of the UTRGV Business School, which is named after him. Both he and Janet are big supporters of the McAllen Holiday Parade.
  • Stephan Wingert – Stephan is quick-witted, with a dry sense of humor. He is changing the dynamics of the newspaper industry in South Texas, making the leap to digital platforms and finding new business models that are making money and driving innovation.
  • Commissioner Tania Ramirez and Commissioner Omar Quintanilla – Both bring the City’s perspective to the Chamber’s program of work. One of the Chamber’s key drivers is enhancing key partnerships to grow the culture of collaboration and success. Our engagement and determination with the City of McAllen is essential for the overall success of the community.

See you in McAllen!
