STC named second in the nation for awarding Associate Degrees to Hispanics by Hispanic Outlook Magazine

South Texas College has been recognized by The Hispanic Outlook on Education (HO) Magazine as one of the leading community colleges for Hispanics in the United States and has been highlighted in the February issue of HO magazine.

STC ranks number two on the 2015 Associate degrees granted by four-year schools according to HO. The designation comes from HO’s “Top 25 Community Colleges for Hispanics” ranking published in its February 2017 issue.

STC is the only Texas college that made the rankings, sharing the top 10 spotlight with colleges from Florida, and Nevada. Miami Dade College ranked at the top of the list.

STC offers more than 119 degree and certificate program options including associate degrees in art, science, technology and allied health fields. The college also offers 18 online associate degrees and certificate options through South Texas College Online enabling students to earn their degrees without even setting foot on campus.

“It’s such an honor to be recognized at this level,” said STC President Dr. Shirley A. Reed. “STC leads the nation in helping students from all walks of life succeed because of our commitment to providing access to higher education for Hispanic students.

“Our focus is on completion,” Dr. Reed said. “Students look to us to help them achieve their dreams for a better quality of life for themselves and their families.”
