What do you get when you bring together over 150 businesses, thousands of attendees, 140 door prizes, fantastic networking opportunities and one singing Killer Bee all in one gorgeous convention center. The 2018 McAllen Business Expo, of course.
This year’s expo was one for the books with business leaders from a diverse range of industries attending this spectacular event to represent their unique brands. Now in its 20th year, the expo started with a bang - the MegaNetwork event. Business owners from all over the Rio Grande Valley came together to share insight, experiences, and generate referrals. The energy was lively as attendees at the networking event eagerly shared “war stories” and connected with local influencers. Plenty of valuable advice was shared and newer business owners had the perfect opportunity to raise their profile.
Suffice to say that the networking event did exactly what it was supposed to do - bring passionate, like-minded entrepreneurs together to help them grow their business.
While the morning session was a blast, the fun really started at 11 a.m. when doors opened up for the official expo portion of the day. From there on out the spirit of the day only grew stronger. Business owners, company representatives, freelancers, photographers, general public attendees, and a bevy of unique individuals made their way through the 150+ business booths that were set up in the Main Exhibit Hall.
From brightly colored signage and unique booth designs to exceedingly helpful staff members who were always more than willing to engage with patrons, the expo brought together executive decision makers who were able to build meaningful business connections, learn about new products and services in the local community, and deliver a clear message about their businesses to a highly receptive audience.
While the Business Expo was running, Executive Coach and Trainer, Bridgett Krause of Dream Big Facility, delivered a compelling seminar that focused on empowering individuals to follow their business dreams. The dynamic speaker offered a number of invaluable suggestions that touched on:
- Recognizing the inner self-saboteur.
- Raising awareness of your own inner-dialogue.
- Developing a vision.
- Creating tangible action items to move forward.
Audience members were engaged and left the seminar with a new sense of purpose.
The productive day ended as it began, in celebration of all the hardworking business owners and entrepreneurs who are able to make the city of McAllen the vibrant city what it is. A delightful wine and cheese reception allowed the remaining attendees to enjoy a moment of respite from all the wonderful hecticness the day brought with it. Of course, as with anything in McAllen, there were still a couple of fabulous surprises to be had.
A Mexican heritage dancing team performed an impromptu routine and Killer Bees hockey mascot, Sir Sting-a-Lot, performed a dazzling melody of 90’s hits.
The 2018 McAllen Business Expo was indeed bigger and better. We can’t wait for next year!
